
Background: Dr. Samuel S. Corl III, FounderSam Corl is the founder and president of Magellan Global Management Resources, a management development and consulting firm specializing in organizational alignment and development, and in the design and delivery of training programs for the domestic and international marketplace. His career of more than thirty-five years as a training and development professional includes significant contributions in both the private and public sectors. He has provided management development and consulting services to clients in more than 35 countries on five continents. His clients have ranged from major governmental agencies to Fortune 500 companies to small businesses, educational institutions, and service organizations. His specialty is creating and delivering programs and advisory services that speak directly to his clients' unique needs, and result in significant performance improvement for both individuals and organizations. Three of his lifelong passions and specialtiescoaching, motivational needs assessment, and organizational alignment (in traditional, non-traditional and matrix organizations)are foundational components of Magellan GMR's management and leadership development efforts. Prior to the creation of Magellan GMR, Dr. Corl served as Vice President of Research and Development for Sterling Institute in McLean, Virginia. In that capacity, he had overall responsibility for the development of the Institute's core programs in Management and Professional Development and Sales and Sales Management, as well as the development of unique programs and materials specifically for client organizations. Dr. Corl was also the Manager of Field Sales and Marketing Training for Chrysler Corporation during the enormously successful period of the middle eighties. In that role he created and directed Chrysler's corporate sales and marketing training curriculums, and was the original program manager and host for the Chrysler Satellite Network. (CSN, a live video training and communications network, delivers four to eight hours of original programming weekly to Chrysler's corporate field offices and dealerships across the United States.) An eight-hour program series that he developed and taught live, on the network, Improving Customer Relations, received a bronze medal from the International Film and Television Festival of New York. For thirteen years, he served on the faculty at Michigan State University, where he was the chairperson of the Curriculum and Instruction Faculty, and the Director of the Secondary Education Pilot Program. During that time Dr. Corl also served as the University's director of graduate programs in Southeast Asia. He conducted a year-long study of adult education programs in Denmark, and taught a variety of graduate courses in educational curriculum development, economic education, group process, and cross-cultural studies in Europe and Asia. He was the recipient of the University's Teacher-Scholar Award, given annually in recognition of excellence in scholarship and instruction. Dr. Corl is a graduate of The University of Michigan Business School (B.B.A., MBA) and the Horace Rackham School of Graduate Studies at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (PhD), where his background included survey design, marketing research, social psychology and education. He is married and has three grown children and one grandchild. |
